#17 – Oprah Winfrey – Net Worth: $3 billion
We’ve all wished to be Oprah at least once, or at least to be in Oprah’s audience—and be part of any of her historic giveaways. Truth is the once news anchor now billionaire and media mogul, is said to be the first woman in history to own and produce her own talk show. As glorious as her accomplishments and numerous awards, is of course, her fortune. Oprah doesn’t need to struggle to enjoy the best of everything.
Her latest acquisition, a ready made, but yet spectacular mansion in Telluride, Colorado—with a $14 million price tag—is just one example of what her money can buy her. Best part is, this 8,700 sq.ft. residence, is supposedly only the spot where she plans to stay at while she supervises the construction of another property in the area. In the meantime, she can enjoy its heated driveway, Finnish-style spa and the automation system that allows her to operate everything in the house no matter where in the world she is. Wait! There’s more! When Oprah wants to go skiing, she can take a private funicular installed for $250,000 that drops her off at any of the many ski runs in the area. Imagine what she could be building for herself in the nearby land she presumably purchased back in 2014.
She also has a home in Montecito, California, a place she named “The Promised Land”. The place is surrounded by her very own rose hybrid bushes as well as hydrangeas and dahlias. What is completely unique about this place? Aside from it being worth $85 million dollars, Oprah has her own Tea House. The place where she likes to meditate, read, get away from it all and as she once said “restore herself”. Everything in it is designed to provide her comfort and well being. Its comfortable furnishings and carefully arranged decoration make it her favorite spot. No meetings or big gatherings here, just Oprah and her thoughts!
But when she can take a few weeks off, Maui is her destination of choice, as she is the proud owner of the historic Thompson Ranch that offers panoramic views of the ocean and of the island’s central valley. First Lady Michelle Obama’s security team has been spotted around the area where Oprah lives, which indicates the two may have been hanging out together. Maybe Mrs. Obama shares Oprah’s passion for farming. Some of the 63 acres of land she owns in the island, are destined to growing organic produce.
To get there, Winfrey doesn’t need to worry about booking flights or busy airports, as the billionaire she is, Oprah flies in her own $42 million Global Express XRS jet, customized with first class recliner-style seating, luxurious lavatories and the finest entertainment system, for her and 18 of her closest friends and family!
